Every Day Above Ground

I committed to my class reunion today.

Not out of nostalgia or obligation — just openness. The kind that says, why not? You never know who you might meet or what might surprise you when you decide to show up fully.

Every day feels like a gift lately. Not in a dramatic way — just a steady awareness that tomorrow isn’t promised, and the moment we’re in is the one that counts.

I’ve always liked the phrase every day above ground is a good day. On hard days, that reminder still holds. Breath alone carries value.

If today were the last day of my life, I know exactly what I’d do. I’d call my son and tell him I love him. That’s why I don’t wait anymore. He’s my son — and my best friend — and love doesn’t need to be rationed.

Writing every day has changed my relationship with myself. It helped me learn to respect the man in the mirror. And that, I’ve discovered, makes it easier to respect others too.

Love doesn’t have to be conditional. It doesn’t have to be earned through behavior or approval.

Sometimes it’s as simple as showing up, sharing time, or standing beside someone in the kitchen.

Today is enough.

And today is here.

Alignment Before Outcome

Notice how often love, presence, or joy gets postponed for a “someday” that isn’t guaranteed.
What would change if you treated today as complete — not perfect, just real?

You don’t have to do more to deserve the moment.

You only have to be here for it.

That’s alignment.

The outcome can wait.

“Every day above ground is already a gift.”
