Taking Care of the Temple

Self-neglect rarely announces itself.

It creeps in.

You avoid conflict. You adapt to inconvenience. You tell yourself it’s temporary. You justify shortcuts. Slowly, you adjust yourself into a version that feels smaller.
I realized recently that I had stopped taking care of my own body. Not out of rebellion. Out of resignation.

Health challenges have a way of forcing honesty. When appointments stack up and tests become routine, it’s harder to pretend everything is fine.

At some point, I had given up on myself.
The turning point wasn’t a dramatic overhaul.

It was a decision to pay attention again.
To hydrate.
To move.
To clean up.
To eat with intention.
To write.

You don’t rebuild a life overnight.
You start by acknowledging the temple deserves care.

Alignment Before Outcome

Notice where small neglect has accumulated.
Is it sleep? Diet? Hygiene? Boundaries? Movement?
What would it look like to choose one small act of care today — not to impress anyone, but to respect yourself?
Alignment begins with attention.

Quote

“Neglect doesn’t shout. It settles.”
