Sol 3 – The Voyage Gets Bigger

Date: July 1, 2026

Sol 3 began with something I hadn’t expected.
I woke just in time for live trading.
Not exhausted.
Not dragging.
Rested.
That alone felt like a victory.

On the Bridge, I saw a beautiful move in the market and rode it. My trading account grew from $20.55 to $40.37, nearly doubling. Somewhere along the way, the trading community officially named a Fibonacci zone after me.
The Danimal Zone.
It made me smile.
Legacy isn’t always a trophy. Sometimes it’s leaving behind an idea that helps someone else.

Breakfast was simple.
Diet Dr Pepper.
Oatmeal with apple syrup.
Food is beginning to feel less like an obstacle and more like fuel.

🩺 Mission Waypoint

Medical Oncologist
Weight: 282 lb (down from 285)
Dr. Batra confirmed what surgery had already revealed.
The thyroid cancer had spread to nearby lymph nodes, but Dr. Kochar believes she removed everything she could safely see and reach.

The next objective remains clear.
Radioactive iodine.
Whole-body scan.
Follow-up.

Additional genetic testing is being done on the tumor tissue, not because it’s needed today, but because it may help someday if it’s ever needed.

Today’s appointment wasn’t about fear.
It was about having a plan.
I also reported something I’d been noticing.

The swelling in my legs and feet has gone down significantly since surgery. It may be related to the recent course of furosemide, the surgery itself, or something else. Mission Control logged the observation and left the interpretation to the medical team.
Orders received.
Course confirmed.

After returning home, I kept things simple.
Oatmeal.
Watermelon.
No stress.
No searching for something I couldn’t have.
Just enough.
By late afternoon, my body voted for a nap.
I listened.

Then something unexpected happened.

As soon as I settled into the Captain’s Chair…
Chef Boyardee SpaghettiOs and Mini Ravioli drifted through my thoughts.
Not because I was hungry.
Because my brain remembered comfort.

Fortunately…
Mission Control reported an empty pantry.

Crisis averted.
Both items were immediately transferred to the Cargo Bay for future retrieval.

The biggest discoveries today weren’t medical.
They were creative.

The USS Hope became more than a metaphor.
She received her official registry.

USS Hope
NCC-65
Her Bridge.
Her Sanctuary.
Her Observatory.
Her Shuttle Bay.
Her Cargo Bay.
Her crew.

Everything found its place.
Then another universe appeared.

A young captain named LeTavian.
A mysterious ship known simply as Tetra.
A forgotten name…
The Triquetra.
A story about becoming whole.
Not stronger.
Whole.
I didn’t expect a cancer journey to give birth to a science-fiction universe.
Yet here we are.

Captain’s Reflection

Today reminded me that healing isn’t measured only by lab work or scans.
Sometimes healing looks like sleeping when you’re tired.
Listening instead of forcing.
Laughing about SpaghettiOs.
Naming a spaceship.
Building a world.
Planning blog posts.
Imagining the future.
Three days ago I was worried about what I couldn’t eat.
Tonight I’m thinking about websites, novels, and starships.
The treatment hasn’t changed.
The traveler has.
