Project 5K!

project_5k

WantMyCoffee.com

I am launching one of the largest projects of my professional career, Project 5K, it could mean a 6 figure income for the right person. Knowing what you know today about Starbucks if you had an opportunity to invest 10 years ago would you have done it? I am certain I found something Bigger.

I am excited in my company Organo Gold (OG). I first had the Gourmet Black coffee over a year ago. I loved the taste and felt amazing after that first cup. Organo Gold not only helped me physically but also financially. Financially, I have earned 5 of the 7 ways you can in the business and look forward to the other two. Physically, if you have been following my blog, I have now lost 105 pounds since June thanks to my coffee, capsules, personal development (the foundation of OG), and making a decision. Like OG I have my own 4 Steps:

  1. Make a decision - I made a decision to fit comfortably on a plane because I was challenged to race Ferrari's on the Autobahn in Germany.
  2. Personal Development - Changing my mindset to be happy, healthy and wealthy
  3. Be OG - which to me means being a total product of the product by not only drinking the coffee but also taking my spores everyday.
  4. Changed lifestyle (no diet) - I cut back on or totally eliminated breads, deserts, red meat, and fried food. I can eat those things although I choose not to. I made the change because I didn't ever want to count calories again. If it doesn't look or sound healthy I chose not to eat it. If I want something sweet I have a Mocha or Hot Chocolate.

Reward Yourself with Family - TCC Episode 34desmondtutu-family

Always reward your long hours of labor and toil in the very best way, surrounded by your family. Nurture their love carefully, remembering that your children need models, not critics, and your own progress will hasten when you constantly strive to present your best side to your children. And even if you have failed at all else in the eyes of the world, if you have a loving family, you are a success.
~ Og Mandino, Author and Motivational Speaker

Today's Episode:

  • Your children need role models not critics
  • How to be a Positive Influence

Your children need role models not critics

My 5 F's or core values are Faith, Family, Friends, Fitness, and Finance. My second one is family. We just went through the holidays surrounded with family and loved ones. Why not do that more often?

I had to break some old patterns passed from generation to generation. I made a decision to be there for my children. I made a decision to be a positive influence on his life.

How to be a Positive Influence

  1. Positive talk: When my son was very young, I talked positively to him as he slept telling him that he's the best and that he's loved.
  2. Take time to be with family: Why wait for the holidays, graduation or funeral to surround yourself with family.
  3. Be a positive role model: Show don't tell that you stand for something better than yourself. Show that you affect others positively.

Don't Look Back - TCC Episode 33dont_quit

Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don't look back at it too long. Mistakes are life's way of teaching you. Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals. No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders. How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come.

~ Og Mandino, Author and Motivational Speaker

“The past does not equal The future. Because you failed yesterday; or all day today, or a moment ago, or for the last six months; the last 16 years, or the last fifty years of life doesn’t mean anything…All that matters is what are you going to do, Right Now.”

- Anthony Robbins, American self-help writer and professional speaker.

 Today's Episode:

  • Your Past Doesn't Equal Your Future
  • Don't Look Back

Your Past Doesn't Equal Your Future

Mandino (1990) suggested, rule 3 for a better way to live, that when you make a mistake or life knocks you down, don't dwell on it too long. Robbins (1991) suggested your past doesn't need to equal your future. Thomas Edison found 9,999 ways not to make a lightbulb.

I've made a few mistakes along the way. There are lessons to be learned. Sometimes I'll make the same mistake again and again, means I need to try something different. There are somethings you can do to help you not to dwell on past mistakes.

Don't Look Back

  • Picture your dreams: Create a vision board, write down your goals and dreams, read them everyday, create affirmations
  • Don't Quit: Just keep showing up. Persistence pays.

Go the Extra Mile: TCC Episode 31extramile

Today, and everyday, deliver more than you are getting paid to do. The victory of success will be half won when you learn the secret of putting out more than is expected in all that you do. Make yourself so valuable in your work that eventually you will become indispensable. Exercise your privilege to go the extra miles, and enjoy all the rewards you receive. You deserve them!
~ Og Mandino, Author and Public Speaker

Today's Episode:

  • Today, and everyday, deliver more than you are getting paid to do
  • Go the Extra Mile

Today, and everyday, deliver more than you are getting paid to do.

You can start right where you stand and apply the habit of going the extra mile by rendering more service and better service than you are now being paid for.

Og Mandino, The Greatest Salesman in the World, tells the tale of a young camel boy, Hafid, who asks his master to become the greatest salesman in the world like him. His motivation was he wanted to change station because he was in love with the daughter of a rich man. His master sent him into  Bethlehem and sell the fines robe money could by. After being in Bethlehem and about to give up he remembered why he was doing it.

He heard a noise outside the cave he was in. He saw a man, woman, and a baby wrapped in the parents robes. He felt sorry for the poor baby shivering in the night, gave the parents their robes back and wrapped the infant in the robe his master sent to sell. He went back to his master was coming up with all sorts of excuses for not selling the robe.

As Hafid approached the camp where his master wait in awe as a star rose up behind the approaching boy. Tears welled up in his eyes for he had witnessed a miracle. Hafid told the tale of how he went the extra mile and failed, to sell the robe. His master assured him he did not fail and gave him the secrets to happiness and wealth.

Sometimes you don't get paid for your services. Still go out there and be your best. Go out into the world with your head held high. There are many things you could do to go the extra mile.

Go the Extra Mile

  1. Do what others aren't willing to do
  2. Add a smile
  3. Say Hello
  4. Create a relationship
  5. Say please and thank you

Count Your Blessings: TCC Episode 30count your blessings

Today's Episode:

  • Counting Your Blessings
  • List Your Blessings
  • Happy and Grateful Affirmations

Counting Your Blessings

Count your blessings. You are one of a kind. There's no one in the world like you. You are amazing.
Richard Simmons, Fitness Guru and Motivational Speaker

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale tells a story about a man who lost everything. Had that man sit down and started listing off the things he did have. He listed things like his health, loving wife, good kids, a brain to think with, etc...

I've been there and may be you have too. I realized that I'm in a recession when my neighbor loses his/her job. It's a depression is when it happened to you. Instead of dwelling on those things you lost, start listing what you do have and be grateful for them. Life is too short!

List Your Blessings

  • Faith - I still have a God that loves me even though I forget to tell him/her
  • Family - I have a good wife mother to my great son, my mother is still with us, my brothers, and my Organo Gold family
  • Friends - I have friends who support me
  • Fitness - I've lost 86 pounds. I can still speak, hear and see. I can move around easily. I still have a few hairs on my head.
  • Finances - I will be a coffee millionaire. I have a roof over my head. My car gets me to where I need to be.

Happy and Grateful Affirmations

In the movie, The Secret, I heard the statement I am happy and grateful now that... and you fill in the blank. These are affirmations that you can use to take you to your hopes and dreams.

I am happy and grateful now that I have a loving family that supports me.

I am happy and grateful now that I am a Diamond in Organo Gold living the number one lifestyle in the World.

I am happy and grateful now that I have the freedom to help and serve other people everywhere.

Brainstorming: TCC Episode 28brainstorm_diagram_new

Today's Episode:

  • Brainstorming
  • Questions Yourself
  • Brainstorming Exercises

Brainstorming
Brainstorming (2014) is the pondering of ideas in order to come up with a solution, a new book idea, overcoming writers block, or finding your brand. I like brainstorming ideas for screenplays, novels, or dissertation or podcast ideas. I find it fun and easy to do. I've even brainstormed this podcast.

Brainstorming this podcast. I worked with Dave Jackson, of the School of Podcasting, and Erik K. Johnson, your Podcast Talent Coach. We looked at my passion of personal development, hypnosis and coffee. Then we looked at my challenges as an online student working on my PhD.  I wanted to find connections with my other classmates, instructors and like minded people like you. That's how The Coffee Couch was born.

Question Yourself

The questions that were the starting point for my podcast:

  • Who is my audience? I chose graduate students in their 40s to 50s. I came up with that by googling the average age o of online students about 35 to 40. I wanted to include people my own age who started later than most. I think of my fellow classmates in my dissertation cohort when I record.
  • What do I know? I know about online learning, social media, personal development, hypnotherapy, the dissertation process, and coffee.
  • What am I passionate about or love? I passionate about making a difference and helping others. I want to see you succeed.
  • What does my audience love? I started looking at statistics from the hits to blog posts. I found that my information on the dissertation writing, personal development and coffee got the most views.  That is still a mystery. Let me know what you're passionate about?

Brainstorming Exercises

  1. Subscribe to Blogs or Podcasts: Find our what others are thinking about what you're passionate about.
  2. Funnel Approach: Take a broad topic, Start narrowing it down, keep tightening until you have a specific topic.
  3. Put ideas in a hat: Take small pieces of paper, write your ideas on each one (no limit), and then pull out 3. Write those 3 ideas in a notebook or your journal. See what you get.
  4. Get together with your mastermind group: Sit down with friends, instructors, writers group, or even your family They might not get what you're working on but you never know what will come up.

Save Kids Lives!

Victoria Enmon's Inspiring Story

positive_social_change

My son, David, and I are on a mission to Save Kids Lives and we need your help. Our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.

David started his first Extra Life event as a way of doing something good with his nerdy passions of tabletop and video gaming. He learned that his mother, my wife, had spent months as a child in the hospital he is supporting.  Since his first year participating in Extra-Life, that hospital has moved to a wonderful new facility. He has been able to visit it and was inspired to see what they provide for the children and their families. Our family has made this Extra-Life gaming event a fun and exciting experience every year since.

Extra Life

Extra Life began in 2008 as a way of honoring a young lady named Victoria Enmon (see her story). Her battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia inspired the SarcasticGamer.com Blog/Podcast Community in a way that is difficult to describe. Members sent video games and bought gifts to keep Tori’s spirits up despite numerous hospital stays and three bouts with the deadly disease.

Tragically, Tori was lost to cancer in January 2008. Later that year, Sarcastic Gamer launched Extra Life, a 24-hour video game marathon to raise money for the hospital that treated and fought beside Tori. In 2008 and 2009 Extra Life raised a combined $302,000, 100 percent of which went directly to help kids like Tori at my local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago).

On November 15, 2014, we participated in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds. We went from video games to board games and tabletop RPG's! This year we did something a bit different.

We added coffee to the 24-hour video game marathon and created a site where individuals can purchase coffee to continue supporting Extra Life… buy our coffee, http://etralifecafe.com. Your purchases may be tax deductible since 50% of all profits will go to help Save Kids Lives.

HOPE: TCC Episode 27

Today's Episode:

  • HOPE (Helping Other People Everywhere)
  • How You Can Help Others

HOPE (Helping Other People Everywhere)

I always wanted to help people. At first I wanted to be a paramedic. Then I thought I'd like to be a doctor. I never did either, YET. At least not a medical doctor.

I ended up in Nursing after my father passed. As a result of a class I took, I became a certified hypnotist. I'm working on my Ph.D. to make a difference in adult education. I will be Doctor Dan.

This podcast has helped my in more ways then one. I get to help people in a way I never thought about. I decided what I want to do when I grow up... Be a Coach. Now I hope to help you.

My Mission:

  • Godliness: Living to serve others. Godliness isolates negativity.
  • Help others: Helping others has helped me take the focus off my problems. By helping you reach your hopes and dreams, I'll eventually reach my hopes and dreams.

How You Can Help Others

  1. Ask what you can do to help: Straight out ask "what can I do?"
  2. Smile: Acknowledge others
  3. Lend an ear: Just listening to someone else can make a difference
  4. Send a card or gift: Just let someone know you are thinking of them. Reach out and touch someone.
  5. Volunteer: Volunteer in your community, for an organization, or a hospital (which is how I met my wife 35 years ago)
  6. Donate: Give money to your favorite cause.
  7. Stop and help a stranger: Stop and help someone stranded on the side of the road.
