30 Day Coffee Challenge

I'm so proud of my weight loss experience. You can hear about it at danhansen.com/15 and the coffee that helped. As I mentioned in Episode 15 of The Coffee Couch Podcast, I noticed that my eating habits changed. I no longer crave breads and sweets.

This last week I decided to test my cravings by doing a fruit fast, to see if I could. Being a researcher, this was a golden opportunity to see if I missed other foods like meat. I'm an omnivore and love my meats bordering on carnivore. Tomorrow is Labor Day, here in the United States, and I know there will be brats, ribs and cakes. I'm sure I'll at least see a few salads, some fruit and at least chicken. I'm positive I'll have my coffee with me, probably lattes and mochas.

I just had to challenge everyone to give it a try. I never thought there was such a thing as a healthy cup of coffee. I was wrong. I used to drink 2 pots of coffee a day plus 2 extra large coffees from Dunkin Donuts. Now, I just drink Organo Gold.

Just Show Up

This last week was all about just showing up. You can up that number to 100% and apply it to anything from success to life. I decided to take my International Gourmet Coffee Business to the next level. I did this by getting up at 5 am to set up a coffee tasting station at the school that laid me off. It was the best thing to happen to me by getting into the business, developing the podcast, and focusing on my dissertation.

I was told no one would be there last Friday. One person asked if I would be there. Of course, I said yes. It was the best day ever. Not only did I sell some coffee & tea but also showed the coffee opportunity in Spanish. Way outside my comfort zone. With a little help from some school support staff and Organo Gold's success tools. I made a new friend and business partner.

It has also been said that "Showing up is half the battle." Just showing up can really make a difference. Same with this blog and podcast, as long as I persist and show up people will come.

30 Day Mental Fast

The 30 day mental fast came to a close yesterday and I didn't realize it. The fast freed up so much time and gave me so much drive that I didn't even post. I was having so much fun doing the coffee business, I forgot about the fast even though I was still doing it. I can hardly wait for Weigh In Wednesday. I have been challenging everyone on social media to take the 30 Day Coffee Challenge.

Lower Your Negativity

Want to lower your negativity. I mean not only yours towards others but others toward you. I challenge you to take Pastor Dan's (not me), of the Lighthouse Church in Alsip, IL, G.I.N. Fast. Not the gin you might be thinking about. It's something much, much more. There is so much negativity and this challenge may not eliminate it in the world; it could make a difference in yours.

How I Lost Over 50 Pounds

Ever Since my last Podcast Episode this week, I've been getting questions on how I lost over 50 pounds. People then asked if I had changed my diet or eating habits. I answered Yes and No. It all started with Organo Gold not only the coffee but also the company.

With Organo Gold the first step is be a product of the product, which means use all the products. When i first tasted it my skin felt electrified. So basically I was feeling good. Another thing Organo Gold has done for me was to listen to personal development. In March 2014, on our way to the Organo Gold International Convention in San Antonio, my brother, Ray, and I listened to Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich.  We came up with the idea and challenged each other to Think and Grow Thin. 

I was diagnosed with diabetes with a A1C of 7.1 and weighed in at 380 pounds. The doctor said lose weight. I was so desperate that I even auditioned for The Biggest Loser, didn't get on. In march I was stuck at about 350 area and injured my knee. I was still drinking my coffee and occasionally taking the  Organo Gold Capsules. Then at the end of May at the Organo Gold VIP Red Carpet Event, I was able to hang with the people I wanted to be like. This sparked a hint of a vision. Then on the ride home something happened in my thinking. My wife did something that would have normally made me angry but I was able to channel that energy into the picture I had of a skinnier and more energetic me.

I just amped up my game by making sure I took my Organo Gold Capsules daily without fail.  I start the day with Grapeseed Extract with Ganoderma, definitely helped with my knee problem. I even texted a friend of mine who had the same injury to tell her I no longer had the pain even that started happening when I got more consistent. Then 3 Mycelium daily, which helped with mental clarity. Midday, I take the Ganoderma capsules for overall health and body detox. Just before bed I take the Spore Powder. All I know is I get a better quality of sleep and I find I don't crave the breads or the sweets. If I feel the need for something sweet, I drink an Organo Gold Mocha or Hot Chocolate. Now I looking forward to my Wednesday weigh-ins!

What really got my attention was when I weighed in this week and was in the 320's. I haven't seen the 320s in almost 15 years. So i even re recorded my podcast to share this

Quit Playing

I am happy and grateful as part of my transformation I decided to quit playing computer games. I was addicted to World of Warcraft and Star Wars the Old Republic. I was paying $20 to fuel that addiction. At the beginning of August I made a decision to quit playing games on my desktop, laptop, iPad, and cellphone as part of this 30 Day Mental Fast. I cancelled my subscriptions to those 2 games.

I noticed I have more time and money. The money I spent feeding that addiction, I am putting back into my business and home. I found time to get back to my novel. As I go back to finish my dissertation at the end of August, I find the energy and enthusiasm to finish.

What is the Wall

What is the wall?

  • Divides rooms
  • Provides privacy by blocking a view or keeping people out
  • In this case, a barrier (2014) which is an obstacle, imagined or real, that keeps people or things apart, prevents communication, or slows progress.

The wall to me is the third definition. I had this habit of sabotaging myself especially when it came to my weight. I'd come up to the finish line and pull a hamstring, trip over my shoelaces, or just plain stop.

I got so stuck on the how-to that I forgot to get to basics, the want-to. I had to ask better questions. How can I turn this around? What can I do to get over this wall?

I have been a yo-yo dieter. I have struggled with my weight since I was young. I was diagnosed with Morbid Obesity at 380 pounds. The last time I weighed 200 lbs I was 13. My wall was 340 pound mark.

Since I started using my coffee and taking the Organo Gold Capsules, part of my 30 day mental fast, I have shed over 50 pounds. I found I no longer crave breads or desserts. I no longer have a taste for beer which is weird because I used to brew it. Now I'm weighing in at 328.8 as of this post.

5 Ways to Get Over The Wall

These are 5 ways I took to get over the wall

  2. Ask Better Questions: I just started asking "how do I" or "how can I".

  5. Picture It: Picture in your mind overcoming the obstacle.
