A Brand New DayTerrific Tuesday's: A Brand New Day

"Pick a schedule and go with it. Make sure you hit it. Consistency is only about schedule, it’s also about content." ~ Dave Jackson, School of Podcasting

I have been undergoing an amazing, inner journey of transformation and have decided to make consistency one of my main goals. This came about when my mentor and friend said my posts were all over the place. She told me she lost interest because she never knew when I came back.

If my goal is to be an author, podcaster, blogger, and speaker I'd better get on schedule. Jackson (2014) suggested that you pick a schedule, stick to it, and make great content. That's what I intend to do. I want to provide great content. So, I decided that I will post on Tuesdays to start building great content and consistency. Check out Dave Jackson's podcast episode "iHeart Radio Stats – Mignon Fogarty “Grammar Girl” and 2014 Predictions: where he discussed attention to content detail with Grammar Girl Mignon Fogarty.

Just wanted to say that this post and selling a boat load coffee helped me get back on track. After getting laid-off last summer, not getting any feedback on my podcast, and running out of money, I didn't give up. I did some inner work and prayed a ton thanking God that I still had a brain and something to offer, especially from my dissertation work. With my new home-based business I was able to turn my life around.

An amazing thing happened yesterday, I found Dr. Wayne Dyer's book Your Sacred Self: Making the Decision to Be Free laying on a shelf in a public area, picked it up, & I opened it. I opened up the second chapter "recognizing the Limitation of your Past" where he talked about his vision to be a writer, which is my goal, and made a decision to just do it. Most important was once making that decision to move it to the next level.

4 Steps I took to Move forward:

    1. Wow, a that point I decided to just do be an author, speaker, entrepreneur
    2. I decided to not worry about finding a job and focus on my dissertation, healthy coffee business, and write.
    3. I had let go of my past failures and move to the next level. There are no accidents and things happen for a reason
    4. Met with my friend and business mentor and came up with some action plans.
      1. The first was sell enough coffee to fund my writing, blog and podcast, which I did
      2. Make a vision board
      3. Schedule coffee parties to keep selling coffee and have some fun at the same time
      4. Create a platform to update or revise my podcast

The Arctic Vortex Saved MeArctic Vortex 2014

Wow, the arctic vortex saved me by changing my stormy life through reflection and taught me that persistence will pay off by forcing me into action. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 the news reported that flooding would start as temperatures climb to the 40s. I had some boxes in my garage which I had packed from my office when I had to move out for a bit and never made it back into the house when I did.

In the boxes were some books I wanted to make sure I saved, one was "The Manuscripts of Thomas Willhite" founder of PSI Seminars. When I opened the cover I saw so many kind words from the other participants in the leadership I went to in 2003. I began to weep as I started to recall the activities we did together as a group, all those faces, and how much others had touched my life. This Arctic Vortex forced me to save the life I boxed up. This then drove me to start reaching out to those who shared in the experience.

Another book I saves was The Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn (Includes The Shinn Biography): The Game of Life/ Your Word Is Your Wand/ The Power of the Spoken Word/ The Secret Door to Success, particularly "The Game of Life & How to Play It". This was given to me as a gift when I opened my hypnosis practice in 1990. This book had been a reference on how to get the most out of life and enjoy it. When I was faced with tough choices I'd open it like the Bible and see what message I needed to hear for that time.

The last book I saved was an autographed copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inspiration for Writers: 101 Motivational Stories for Writers - Budding or Bestselling - from Books to Blogs signed by Mark Victor Hansen (no relation). I met Mark in 2003 at the PSI Seminars Principia event where he talked about how many rejections they got before "Chicken Soup of the Soul" was published. He said when  someone rejects you or your work say "Next" because eventually someone will say "Yes". That is a metaphor for getting back into writing and starting my home-based coffee business because I have faced many rejections and wanted to give up. This reminds me to hang in there or persist until I get that "YES". I have a goal of being a paid author and I boxed the book like boxing my life. What was amazing that now I have made that decision to move forward as an author, this book appeared when I need it the most.

Take Simple ActionsTake Simple Action

I just finished listening to Joel Osteen's book - Break Out!: 5 Keys to Go Beyond Your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life. The one big lesson I took from it was to take simple actions towards reaching your goals and you'll make it. One of my goals is to clog at least 3 times a week whether in book posts or just what's going on. In my blog post Day 30: Goals for 2014 I listed my goals today I'm picking a few to narrow my focus and energy:

  1. Graduate from Walden July 2014
  2. Finish my Dissertation and get it approved by May 30, 2014
  3. Go back to Thailand and teach a semester or two

  1. Become a Diamond Consultant in Organo Gold
  2. Create a new career as a professional speaker and author
  3. Get a good head shot for speaking, blog, podcast and social media

  1. Lose 100 pounds
  2. Get off blood pressure and cholesterol medications

  1. Self-publish some of my older works to get started in my writing career
  2. Relaunch my podcast
  3. Create a podcast network
  4. Become a paid full-time author
  5. Become a paid public speaker
  6. Create a platform to give back to the world
  7. Renew my hypnosis certificate
  8. Create a wellness center
  9. Publish my first of many novels
  10. Sell some of my screenplays

Travel and Fun:

  1. Do the Belgium beer tour
  2. Kiss the Blarney Stone (not sure why just because)
  3. Get back to music
  4. Learn to draw or paint

Here are some simple actions I can take on a daily basis that will get me to my goals:

  1. Spend at least 4 hours a day working on dissertation or other scholarly activities
  2. Read journal articles
  3. Prepare and conduct my study
  4. Write a few journal articles for publication

  1. Work out 3-4 days a week
  2. Say NO to the sweets
  3. Drink water & take Organo Gold Capsules

  1. Write blog posts at least 3 times a week
  2. Join a writing group
  3. Read more novels
  4. Write 15 minutes a day:
    1. on a new screenplay
    2. a journal article
    3. some short stories to better develop my craft
  5. Connect with a blogger who is bigger than me

Personal Goals: My goals are to complete my dissertation, graduating in July 2014, bring my Organo Gold business to the next level, get better at saying “no”, especially to those things that will not help me realize my goals, write more articles, finish a novel, and creating financial freedom.

Happy and Grateful Statement I am happy and grateful that I am a Diamond Consultant for Organo Gold coffee because I am able to be a good husband, father, son, brother, mentor, and author because I am able to have the freedom and time to write books and articles that entertain and inspire my readers in order to create positive social change.
